Starter course shingles, an important part of any roofing system and one of the Tamko Starter products that can be used with Tamko asphalt shingle installations as part of the requirements for a Tamko High Wind Warranty (up to 160 mph depending on the shingle). Tamko 10 in. Starter shingles are factory cut starter strips made of fiberglass mat coated on both sides with coating grade asphalt and surfaced with ceramic granules. For application to the eave or rake edge prior to shingle application. Allows for proper alignment of shingle courses. The starter strip fills in the spaces under the shingles joints and allows the first course of shingles to seal. These shingles CAN NOT be used as the starter course with 3-Tab shingles.
